Analysis on the Research Trend of Arts Psychotherapy - Focused on the Research Papers Published in the Journal of Arts Psychotherapy(2014-2018) -

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to establish research trends in the area of Arts Psychotherapy by analysing research papers published in the Journal of Arts Psychotherapy.
A total of 228 papers were collected from March 2014 to December 2018, and organised according to research objects, research contents, research topics, research methods, and various arts psychotherapy types. Then, we used frequency analysis to determine the research trend. The results of the study are as follows. First, the main research objects of many studies were adolescents group and therapists, and these two groups consisted of 13% each of total research objects. Secondly, the most popular research contents was the outcome of the therapy, which was 46.1% of the total, development of the theory was 14%, and the outline research was 10.1% of the total. Thirdly, the most popular research topic was the study on the self-growth of the client, which reached up to 28.6%, and psychological health (22.4%), maladjustment/problem behaviour (13.6%) followed. Fourth, the quantitative research method was used in 68.9% of dissertations, and only 24.6% were used in the qualitative research method. Fifth, the art therapy (59.6%) and the music therapy (19.7%) were the majority of the therapy types used in the research, which consisted nearly 80% of the total. To conclude, We proposed the future direction of arts therapy development with the meaning and implications of this study as a basis.
